Hard to start, dies at Idol occasionally

Asked by joniv1965 Jun 10, 2017 at 04:48 PM about the 2010 Kia Soul

Question type: General

My Kia Soul just recently became difficult to start
after driving and 3 times has died while sitting at a
stop light.  My engine light is not on. Up until 2
weeks ago it would start in one turn of the key..
now at time I have to hold it and let it keep turning.
Runs good and idols good. Recommendations? I
really don't want to go to Kia as their service price
will probably be more expensive then replacing the
car.  119,700 miles

Still haven't figured it out and neither has Kia. Have to take it back when a "Master Mechanic" is on staff.

Same problem here 2012 Kia Soul. Can go days with it being fine and then multiple days it’s hard to start and twice has shut down while at idle in park and then won’t restart. No engine lights and 2 mechanics can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Sounds like KIA has a ongoing issue with its cars

2012 Kia Soul. Just started this. 3rd time in 3 wks. Then floor the gas pedal but won't go above 10mph. Turn it off again and restart, it seems fine. It's dangerous. WTH! Taken it in. They say sensors don't show anything. They can't duplicate.

I've been having a problem with my kia soul 2012. The engine turns off when stopped at the lights. I have to put it in park and turn it off before starting it again and it drives fine again. It has done this to me 8 times. My mechanic doesn't know what's causing it.

2013 Kia Soul ! 2.0 Crankshaft Position Sensor; I found this to be very helpful. This worked for the shutting off while i was driving, stopped at a light and the problem where it take a really long time to speed up. I am still have some issues when i start the car. Sometime when i start the car it turn on and after a few seconds it idles to zero and shuts off. I notice when you turn eco and the ac off before starting the car, it turns right on and stays on. I hopes this helps out some of you.
