sorry wschaenman..my computer crashed, right when I started to post, it went in to a full meltdown, just got it going. Instead of saying something ignorant let me try to do some research. Thanks

Well the main difference is the engine the 3.0i is a inline 6 3.0 liter and is a pretty basic X5 depending on options. The 4.8i is our sport version on the X5. It has a 4.8 liter V8 with a throaty exhaust and body kit and large rims. Also the interior has sport seats and most of the time Dual air ride suspension. The 4.8i is a nicer X5 but will cost you more in tires and maintance then the 3.0l X5. But if you need a V8 look into either out 4.6L (same sporty model just not as new) or the 4.4L (Same as a 3.0i for options but has a V8) Hope this helps good luck with your research. Let me know if you have any further questions.
