Hybrid battery life

What is the expected battery life in years
and/or miles

I think Toyota claims they are "lifetime" but then why do they sell replacements? With the cost of a battery pack the "lifetime" will be when the battery costs more than the car is worth which would probably be around 10 years old.

I think the warranty is 8 years/100,000 miles and in Kalifornia 10 years/150k miles.
