Engine speed and acceleration problem !

Asked by juudofa Jul 01, 2013 at 11:43 AM about the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have Jetta 2009, 1.6 ltr engine often displays EPC on the dashboard either when you start or while already running, and when it does that the engine speed reduces or will not accelerate anymore. I have to stop the car and try to restart again sometime many times before it can respond. Please help give repair tips.

EPC stands for Electronic Power Control. this can be caused by any number of sensors in the engine or transmission that's causing the computer to switch to limp home mode. I'd recommend taking it to a specialist to get it hooked up to a code checker and have it diagnosed so you can get it working correctly.
