Rough idle, stalling, only in gear and driving 2+miles

Asked by L Oct 07, 2018 at 07:34 AM about the 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 2009 Chevy impala, v6, 3.5L, problem
started showing up few times a week, it gotten
worse really quickly, problem shows it self only
after driving 2-4miles, every light car seems like
choking, sputters, jerks and sometimes dies,
accelerating is rough and intermediate loss of
power, gas pedal even to the floor does not pick up
rpms or speed like it meant to, it works for a
seconds and gives out the next and that keeps on
going, jerking and sputtering continues until I pick
up speed to approx 30mph or more, then car starts
to drive normal, maybe rpms are little higher than
normal but I'm not too sure of that fact. Anyway I
tried cleaning out the throttle body, switching it out,
switching the MAF sensor without any luck, is
there anyone that had the same issue fixed? Thank
you.

P. S. Almost forgot, mph needle jumps erratically, I
sometimes see msg on dash saying that max
speed is reached

What about the temperature thing, is there any reason by it would function normal while the engine is still somewhat cold? And the issue with it being normal in park and in gear it starts to give out.
