I had the same problem - was told to first try a new gas cap but it continued to happen and eventually was found to be a Purge Valve Solenoid, once replaced no more problems.
Which one? Engine compartment or underneath near drivers seat?
takes 3 or 4 times to start the car after I put gas in it
