no acceleration funny smell in car during and after driving

Asked by Guru97M43K Mar 06, 2023 at 09:20 AM about the 2003 Honda Civic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was on the highway when my car completely lost power and started to smell
funny.  No engine lights.  The lack of acceleration seems to be getting worse as
this has been an issue for some time but not as intense as it was yesterday.  So
the car will move but slowly while giving it full gas.  This is a standard car and
I'm not a car person; at all.

The catalytic converter might be clogged causing the exhaust system to be restricted. Look under the vehicle with the engine running. If the catalytic converter is glowing it's overheated and the vehicle should not be driven until it's fixed. Hope that helps! Jim
