I have a 98 explorer 4.0 sohc that
sputtered and boggs down from dead
stop and has trouble ideling ..I've
replaced the mafs ..tps...checked for
vacume leaks and its throwing to
many codes to replace everything

Right- when these Fords start disintegrating they are not cost- effective- "Like sands through the hourglass......."

If you have a 98 V6, then you have a 4.0 OHV engine, unless it was swapped out earlier. I have a 99 which experienced the same problem you are encountering. Here are some of the causes. You have a dirty throttle body/ IAC valve or the valve is bad. You need a tuneup, you could have a clogged fuel injector, your coil could be bad, a fouled plug or defective wire(s). Eliminate these causes before you begin throwing parts at it. The 4.0 OHV engine is a good engine. Mine is pushing 250K and runs like a top.
