The engine is old and oil pressure is dependent on engine speed and bearing clearances. Has the idle speed dropped?

The oil light begin flickerin'? You know there's a set of gears that turn to pump up the pressure, when these gears turn more slowly, pressure will drop. Is this a new problem, because droppin' down when the motor isn't turning is totally normal. What we don't want to see is a loss of oil pressure, the light comes on and does not go off, but perhaps the gauge is not functioning correctly? Of course pressure will reduce with engine speed. long as it's not zero~
