Truck won’t move in any gear ?

Asked by Rosetta Jun 21, 2020 at 10:02 PM about the 2002 GMC Sierra 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2002 GMC Sierra worked fine last night it
needs the alignment redone and shifter
spring is broken but still usable if I push the
spring in place. So today my boyfriend
changed the front tire on driver side and
lowered it back down then I started it and
went to reverse and it didn’t reverse then
tried neutral and nothing and it’s in the
driveway that has a slope to it so it should
naturally roll back especially in neutral but it
doesn’t then my boyfriend tried putting it in
drive and stepped on gas and it made a
creaking or cranking kind of noise that came
from the front of truck kinda from the axle or
something and e break doesn’t even work
hasn’t for awhile so that’s def not stopping it
? Do you think it’s the shifter cable or
something with the shifter ? And how can I
check that ??

The wheel that he changed may be the wrong rim size on the inside and is rubbing on the caliper. The rim may fit fine on the rear cause the clearance from the caliper is greater.

Ya it is a totally different tire he thought he could use it on there for a few days while he got the one he took off it fixed cuz it has a big bubble in it I’ll tell him that and see if he puts the other one back on that it fixes that problem . Thanks for the help and if that’s not it I’ll be back lol
