oil light

Asked by newgmcowner Jan 25, 2010 at 07:41 PM about the 2004 GMC Savana

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My van just turned 65000 and the oil light comes on for a bit and then goes off. Oil is topped up. Is
this a scheduled light?

Could be the oil change reminder light if it looks like an oil cam with a check mark next to it. If it is a different light it may be a faulty oil pressure sensor/associated wiring.

Thanks Jonathan: My van was doing the same thing. Looked in the owners manual. Turn the key on and press the accelerator down 3 times to reset the oil to 100%.

Yes... this is pre set from the factory ** when the light comes on ** usually it means the oil is due to be changed ** If the oil has already been changed then the light need to be reset.
