Who makes the best

Asked by OJ May 15, 2016 at 11:50 AM about the 1999 Ford Explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

OK, after 17 years of flawless operation the AC in the 99 explorer is going out.
Blows cold then hot, cold then hot.  If I am going to evac the system to do
some sort of repair, might as well change the entire system out.  Question:
Besides Motorcraft, who makes the most reliable AC parts to rebuild an entire
system.

Motorcraft is best if all parts are available. www.rockauto.com has Motorcraft and other brands at fairly good prices. If you open up the system you must replace the receiver dryer. 17 years is pretty good service.

I agree. Was trying to find a retailer who sold motorcraft close to home, but to no avail. Check out a Ford dealership for prices and all I can say is; if you purchase from a dealership, bring along a tube of KY along with the credit card.

www.tascaparts.com has Ford parts at a discount, but still mail order unless you live in Rhode Island.
