95 tracker not starting

Ran fine, hooked up Speedo cable, reinstalled
instrument panel & hears humming sound 3-5
seconds. Nothing!        ERV

A wire was ran from starter to a connection plug located behind insterment panel. Wire was pulled from connector, from removing the speedo cable from the panel. 2 days lost!!! Troubleshooting from previous workmanship. Next person who owns this "vehicle" will laugh at me also! ERV
