I have 2000 Ford xployer 4.0 5pd trans 26spline I was told that I could not swap it out with
a 23 spline trans. is this true and why

My neighbor, a transmission dude, stated for the late 90's and early 2000s explorers they made one transmission for the V6 and one for the V8. As to why it will not swap out he did not look up why.
