Truck won't start

I have a 98 dodge Durango it has a new battery in it
I've had the ulternter changed n it will jump start
but when u take the cables off it dies n when u turn
the key nothing happens

Tennis, I read this as when he takes the jumper cables off. Not the battery cables.
