can I put a 2 wheel drive transmission in a four-wheel drive truck and it just be two wheel drive

My four-wheel-drive Dodge Dakota Transmission
went out it's a 2000 also have a two-wheel drive
Dodge Dakota that's wrecked will that 2 wheel
drive transmission go into 4 wheel drive truck and
it just be two wheel drive

I know you can on older models not 100% sure your computer will be fine with it, may though.
