I have a 01 ford taurus the lights started to dem and the next day went to town and wouldn't start so I jumped it ran fine for 8 miles and started to stutter and just died it will turn over and click would it be the battery ,altternaror what? Thanks for any help I can get

Likely the alternator. You can have it checked for free at most parts stores. Have the battery charged before you drive it. DO NOT try to charge a dead battery with a new alternator - you'll probably end up overworking and replacing the new alternator too.
