car puts out heat in shop at 210 degrees and on road test temp goes to156 degrees and cool air from heater

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. It's an easy change on the left side of the engine viewed from the driver seat. At least that's the case with a Vulcan 3.0 engine. Not familiar with the others. I've changed it in two of the three I've owned.
