My 05 Neon won't start key turns but will not engage any electrical componants

i heard a click right as soon as i turned the key to start, now the nothing happens could it be the switch? will not crank nor will any dash lights come on? please help

check the battery terminals , clean if needed, also the heavy ground wire to engine block
