Motor and exhaust

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 gmc k1500 with a 99 Vortec 355.7 liter
my question is I put new headers a new plugs
wondering if this is normal not that when I start up
the truck is fine no backfire but when I get on the
gas a little bit at pops all kinds of noise but when I
get on the gas a little bit pops all kinds of noise is
this normal now I don't have the full exhaust on all
I have it is shorty headers if you give me some
advice please

If you just have the open exhaust with no muffler or tailpipes I am not surprised that you have popping. The popping is probably excess fuel that is burning off.
