My truck turns over, but has trouble cranking

So recently my truck wouldn't turn
over. Some said alternator, some
said battery died, due to a freeze. I
went and got a new battery And
it started to crank after it had turned
over. But has trouble after cranking
because if I don't pump gas, the
crank won't start my truck. the only
way for me to start it, is by pumping
gas. It's an 81Chevy c10 short bed,
with a brand new edelbrock 350. I
need a professional answer due to
everyone telling me too many
different things.

Carberated then? I am thinking fuel pressure. Check the fuel pressure, it should be 5.5 to 6.5 lbs. How long has the Edelbrock ben on the engine? Long enough to set it up?
Yes. It's brand new. The lines may be a little old. But they still work. However, I have a gauge on the inside that shows me that, and it's on target of what you said.
Is the choke set for a cold start up? and the choke pull-off set properly? It is not flooding out?
Is the choke next to the ebrake, hood and ebrake release?
Good morning. It is sounding like your carburetor needs to be checked for proper setting. How long has this ben on your truck? Was it set-up when it was installed? The choke is the butterfly in the air horn of the center of the carburetor. The choke pull-off is on the side of the carburetor which pulls the choke open about a 1/4" at cold start. The electric choke spring pushes the choke closed for cold start. These things need to be adjusted properly for a smooth start up. Then there are the idle mixture screws to be adjusted once the engine is warmed up. I am assuming you have a 350 Chevy engine with a 4-bbl.
