89 Chevy k1500 5.7

Asked by Jason Dec 22, 2018 at 05:04 PM about the 1989 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck would start run and drive no issue. I
got new spark plugs wires and a cap and
rotor. And now it no long starts. It cranks over
but will not start. When it’s cranking over it
will back fire but the truck won’t run. I’ve
went over my the firing order numerous
times. Got a different cap rotor and wires.
Still the same issue. I took the motor to top
dead center and made sure the number 1
wire was positioned right. I can’t figure it out.

I agree. You probably got your wires mixed up or in wrong position on cap. Firing order is as follows : 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Looking at motor from the front, odd numbers are on the right side. Even numbers are on the left.
