Asked by bnmbabygirl Jan 28, 2018 at 03:38 PM about the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had check engine light read at Auto Zone after van began sputtering. It only said misfire in cylinder 3. Changed cylinder 3 buy it didn't fi the problem. Then changed all spark plugs, wires, coil pack, battery and used HEET. Still saying misfire in cylinder 3 and still "sputtering" at idle and when accelerating to try to get up to speed on interstate.

Also, forgot to mention, that my check engine light has begun flashing at me but the read out is always the same.

Try having someone scan your catalytic converter. I had a similar issue with my dodge ram. Converter was bad. Fuel was being dumped into the cylinder heads flooding the engine. Flooded cylinder head... Misfire. Shop around because one shop wanted to charge me $600 to replace my converter. Found a muffle shop in town that did the work for $125. An EGR valve can also cause similar symptoms.
