Since 1996, we've had OBDII diagnostics. Computer systems are very different from one model to another, and even more so from one brand to another. There really isn't any way to make a Cadillac engine work in an Chrysler car, and get it to run properly, if at all. And it will never pass a smog test.

The easiest and least expensive is to replace the engine with the same engine that is in the car. That way you can use the same drivetrain and transmission.
