Electric cooling fans

Asked by James Aug 24, 2017 at 05:43 PM about the 2006 Dodge Caravan

Question type: General

So one of the two electric cooling fans on my
Dodge Caravan started smoking so I unplugged it
can I still run the motor at a/c safely with only one
electric fan running?

I would not. Will it overheat engine? It might or PCM might shut AC down as it is seen as not necessary as keeping car engine cool. These are cheap and easy to replace. You might even get a decent one out of a junkyard if cash is slim. Not recommended but I understand and have been there. Test it in junkyard before buying. 2 wires and 12V battery. Maybe off cordless drill while you are in there.

If you do, it probably won't benefit you as it might blow warm or hot especially at low speeds and stops.
