Question type: Maintenance & Repair

this car will only get to a normal operating temp if driving in the city or at an idle other wise is runs very cool.  Any idea what the problem might be?

Sounds like the thermostat is sticking open, not allowing the car to reach operating temperature. This really isn't a huge problem as I had a 1984 Lincoln that was kind of the same way. You may also want to adjust your mixture of antifreeze and water to allow it to run a little hotter.

the oem thermostat is a 192 degreze change it if its sticking or has been removed. at some point someone may have installed a lower range thermostat (180 degreze)
