If it's a heavy metallic chunking sound coming from below the floor that tends to happen when acclerating or letting off the gas, you likely have bad u joints in the driveshaft to the rear wheels. Bad u joints can also sound like a momentary heavy viberation, almost a thrashing sound, under the same driving conditions.
