2002 sebring conv

My 2002 sebring won't start.new starter won't
engage flywheel.battery is fully charged fuse 8 isn't
blown.it was running great until I excel rated over
40mph not she just made a clunk noise not
died.any ideas? I'm being told motor is blown

Who replaced the starter? who told you the engine is blown? be careful, this doesn't smell right to me-
