Having problems with my van

Had a problem with my timing belt and interior
water pump my brother has put everything
together but now my vehicle will not start it seems
like it wants to crank but doesn't what could be the
problem

Only thing I can think of is that your brother or you will have to determine is the number one cylinder is TDC. Would have a look in a shop manual unless that's already been done. So my answer is the timing is not set correctly. Would get a timing light and do a flash on the crank pulley to verify where you are concerning where the specified mark should be according to your vehicle. Just a few notches here or there can make a world of difference. Good Luck!
