Key Fob

Asked by Dean Jan 22, 2020 at 03:18 PM about the 2005 Chrysler 300

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Daughter bought 2005 Chrysler 300 used. Got 1 key that always started car but
remote entry would not work. New car battery discharged from sitting a while.
NAPA recharged and tested car battery. Meanwhile I checked remote entry to
find there was no battery and battery holder had become disconnected from
the circuit board. Soldered battery holder back in place and installed a new
2032 Lithium battery.  Got car battery back and installed it in car.  Car started
and ran fine as always. With car off tested remote entry and worked
locked/unlocked doors and opened trunk. Restarted car but would no longer
stay running. Ran few seconds and turned off. After few times key stopped
turning engine over at all.  So now have one key that stopped working while the
remote entry works fine. This makes no sense to me at all. How can I fix this
ridiculous problem easily and cheaply? I should never have fixed the remote
entry and this would not have happened.

Go through the fob programming procedure again. It's in the owners manual.
