How do I know if my 95 caddy deville is a northstar

Open the engine hood, it will say 4.9L.. You will also see Cadillac instead of Northstar. A few 1995 base Deville models do have the Northstar option - it was an expensive option, so most folks just bought the Concours. And, not all Northstar engines had problems.

also the emblem on the trunk will say northstar if it has one
