Running hot

I am running hot and i just replaced a water pump
on my 02 deville. Could it be that i am running hot
because i have water tht i used to check for leaks
while replacing the pump is the reason i am
running hot?

No, water should still cool it down to avoid overheating, coolant is more efficient and protects engine components from rust but water should still cool it down. Check to see if cooling fans are coming on when temperature is reached. If they're not, you need to troubleshoot cooling fans.

Try bleeding air from system like this remove cap from overflow tank fill with antifreeze to full mark leave cap off and start vehicle and let idle you will notice level in tank start to rise this is normal once thermostat starts to open level in tank will drop add more antifreeze to full mark then put cap back on.
