05 deville colum shift, indicator shows nuetural when shifting with no forward or reverse engafgment

I had an old car a while back with the indicator was not precise, but, car ran fine. It's just an indicator, best to ignore it if it's working. If it really bothers you, it's just more money. And, your car's over 10 years old.

sir this is an 05 Seville 4L80E trans. notice end of question "no forward or reverse engament" @ best this can not be ignored @ shift quadrant..due to fact that this transmission is electronicaly contrled.. but thank you otherwise for your answer and expertise.. mcrautorepair

Sorry, thought you were just talking about the indicator on the steering column or floor shift .
