Cahange from manual to auto in a old 2006 smartfortwo

My 2006 Smartfortwo sets in Manual (1) every time i move the transmision level  and
then I have to push the button to switch to automatic. . .but yesterday I drove a 2015
smartfortwo and when move the trsnmision level it sets in Auto and if desire have to push
the button to move to manual. . . there is a way to set my old smart in the same way than
the new one.  .first set in auto¡¡¡¡

As these are upgraded, the transmission gets upgraded too, from 2007 there was a change, an option for a paddle shift.
