Can you take a 2002 v8 motor from mercury and
install it in a 2003 Ford explorer v6

Probably. I'm am confident both a V6 and V8 were offered in the two models. Make sure the tranny is the same for both engines. Also take along the PCM, ECM, etc. with the donor vehicle. You'll probably need them
