Heat not working in 2nd/3rd row vents

Asked by jamask Nov 17, 2014 at 03:26 PM about the 2003 Ford Explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer.  The heat stopped working in the rear seat vents.  It works fine in the front vents/defroster and on the back of the arm console.  But the vents on the ceiling and the floor in the 2nd/3rd rows will blow air but it won't blow heated air.  Any ideas what could cause this?

Check the net and determine if there is a separate blend door for the rear seats. I suspect there is. If so either the blend door for the rear seat is stuck, broken, or the actuator which opens the door (electrical motor) made of plastic, has died.
