2.8 liter Peugot Renault Volvo V6. When it 1st came it only had 130 hp. Since then performance upgrades have been developed for the Delorean engine that can bring the horsepower to 220 hp.

Well it is a slightly modded PRV V6 engine, which was very common in Europe for a number of years, plus the fuel system is the Bosch K-Jetronic which was used by Porsche around the same time period. I do not know for a fact but I would imagine that the fuel distributor was not a custom part for the DeLorean and was indeed used on other Peugot, Renault, Volvo or Porsche vehicles. In a related note, I was once told that DeLoreans had 2,700 different parts and that only 150 or so were no longer available as new or OEM.
