rear defogger not working

First thing would be to check the fuse. The electric rear defroster draws a lot of current and the link in the fuse grows week over time, burning out, and opening the circuit.

If the suggestion above does not take care of your problem, start following the wiring harness from the dash to the back window. You may find a broken or frayed connection or the coil in the window may be bad.
