The car is metal and the bumpers are plastic. The paint sometimes shows up different.

Even 1980 cars with the EDM rubber pieces behind the chrome bumpers were a different shade than the rest of the car. Any plastic or rubber piece on a car has to be painted differently than any other piece or it's paint will evenually crack. Flex agents are added to the paint to help with flexibility thus changing the hue of the color slightly, especially at different angles of the sun. This is normal for any car even highend euro cars so don't worry about the different shade on the Bird. Unless it is almost two different colors, then the car has defitinitely been repainted for one reason or another. It also depends on the actual color, pearls will show up more so than non pearl colors, Dark metallic blues or silver grays will also give off a different hue. Just something you will have to live with, because unfortunately they don't make chrome bumpers anymore. MrBlueOval/Kenny.
