Will go in gear but only moves forward in all gears

I believe that is the same simtoms my friend had. Sorrry to say - he had to replace the Transmission.

DON'T REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION!!!!! Someone pulled out the valve body and did not put it back in properly!!!! Unfortunately I have had this issue just this week so since the original post was two years old, you probably already spent too much money. Anyways, here is the answer..... If you take off the pan and look up into the transmission you will see the manual valve. Notice the little PRNDL stub, that needs to be locked into the manual valve. The manual valve has a groove for it. Without the PRNDL stub in the groove the manual valve cannot do it's job.
