I have a 88 grand am le 2.0 I just changed the fuel pump and it does make sound again but it will not start. If it is getting spark and fuel why will it not start? is there not enough fuel pressure?

Try resetting the system. Make sure your battery is fully charged. Pull the emergency brake.( this is to keep the headlights from coming on and running the battery down during this process.) next, turn the key to the start position without cranking it. Leave it like that for thirty minutes at least. After the minimum thirty minutes,Do not turn the key backwards but turn the rest of the way over to start the car. Hopefully it will.
have fuel pressure checked, if pump went out the filter may be clogged as well.

It is not getting enough power to engage the starter. It just makes a clunk noise, when trying to start it.
