replacement transmission

Wanting to purchase a replacement transmission from salvage dealer. I have heard that the S10 truck transmissions will fit. Is that true? If so, what years are applicable?

i haven't heard that the s10 tranny fits in the astro van, but i do know the astro vans tranny matches up perfectly with the 76' camaro so it might be possible to stick a camaro transmission under there. but it depends on what engine size you have in your astro van. if it has the 2.8 v6 or the 4.3 v6 then the transmission from a 1990 s10 would probably fit just fine.
