I own a 1993 chevy cavalier and when the heater is on makes a loud noise and sounds like a chainsaw bogging out when you turn it off what could it be???

The blower motor assembly. Might have a bearing going out.

I second the assertion it's the blower motor... they sound like hell when they nuke. Can also be something IN the fan, like leaves or sticks- or mice.
