2025 Porsche Cayenne Reviews Summary

Verdict: Even the base model Cayenne delivers an agile driving experience, but those willing to dig deep into their bank account for one of Porsche’s more expensive Cayenne models are rewarded with a spirited drive like no other. The competition here is stiff, in the form of other German SUVs like the Audi Q8, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz GLE, and their performance variants. However, the Cayenne is not here to lose.

2026 Nissan Pathfinder Reviews Summary

Nissan's largest crossover, the Pathfinder, seats up to eight people while offering a car-like ride and control at a medium price point. In our testing of midsize three-row crossovers, the Pathfinder comes out in the middle of the pack in terms of performance, technology, and driving enjoyment. For 2026, Nissan refreshed this fifth-generation Pathfinder, which had been largely unchanged since its debut for the 2021 model year. The 2026 Pathfinder offers more convenience features, a larger touchscreen, and a few new styling touches.

Verdict: The Pathfinder is a good choice for value, interior quality, and space, but rivals from Toyota, Hyundai, and Kia push the dials even further at a similar price.

Look and feel

2025 Porsche Cayenne

9/10

2026 Nissan Pathfinder

6/10
The 2025 Porsche Cayenne presented itself as a versatile SUV, available in both a standard model with a squared-off rear end and a sporty Cayenne Coupe. The GTS trim level, which was the focus of the review, featured distinctive high gloss black trim, a unique front fascia with larger air intakes, and tinted headlights. Red brake calipers were visible through 21-inch anthracite gray wheels, and the Cayenne Coupe boasted an adaptive rear spoiler. Inside, the Cayenne offered extensive customization options, from the vibrant Carmine Red colour to various trim and seat belt choices. The cabin was well-organized, with mechanical controls for essential features and a dashboard-mounted shifter toggle that freed up storage space. Despite the sliding centre console being a minor drawback, the interior was otherwise thoughtfully designed.
Performance

2025 Porsche Cayenne

9/10

2026 Nissan Pathfinder

5/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne offered a range of engines, all capable of impressive performance. The base 3.0-litre V6 delivered 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque, while the Cayenne S featured a V8 with 468 hp. The Turbo GT, available only as a coupe, boasted 650 hp, and plug-in hybrid options reached up to 729 hp. The GTS trim, with its twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, produced 493 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed transmission and all-wheel drive. The GTS could accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 275 km/h. The steering, borrowed from the Turbo GT, provided precise handling, and the vehicle's lowered stance and advanced suspension contributed to its agility. The GTS offered a balance between sporty performance and daily driving comfort, with optional features like carbon ceramic brakes and an Off-Road package enhancing its versatility.

The 2026 Nissan Pathfinder retained its naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine, producing 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, or 295 hp and 270 lb-ft in the Rock Creek trim with premium fuel. Both trims in Canada, Rock Creek and Platinum, offered standard all-wheel drive and a towing capacity of 2,720 kilograms. The nine-speed automatic transmission resulted in leisurely acceleration, and the engine sounded laboured. Fuel economy was estimated at 11.8 L/100 km in the city and 9.6 on the highway for the Platinum model. The Rock Creek trim, tested during a media evaluation, featured Toyo Open Country A/T III tires that were noisy and detrimental to the driving experience. The Pathfinder's suspension was soft, allowing for more lean and mid-corner wheel motions, making it best suited for straight-line driving.

Form and function

2025 Porsche Cayenne

2026 Nissan Pathfinder

9/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne offered a la carte customization, with the base model featuring standard eight-way power-adjustable seats, two-zone climate control, and ambient lighting. The GTS trim added a GT Sport steering wheel and Race-Tex headliner, with options for Race-Tex or leather interiors. The Cayenne accommodated five passengers, with ample headroom in the second row, but lacked a third-row option. It could tow up to 3,500 kilograms and had a payload capacity of over 635 kilograms. Cargo space was slightly smaller than competitors, with 772 litres behind the second row and 1,708 litres with seats folded in the standard model.

The 2026 Nissan Pathfinder featured "Latch and Glide" second-row seats, making it family-friendly. It offered generous headroom and legroom in the first and second rows, while the third row was tight for taller passengers. The Pathfinder seated eight by default or seven with captain's chairs in the Platinum trim. Cargo space was ample, with 470 litres behind the third row, 1,274 litres behind the second row, and 2,279 litres with seats folded. Both trims included a power liftgate, and the Rock Creek trim had a tubular roof rack supporting up to 100 kilograms. Visibility was good, and analog controls made daily driving easy.

2026 Nissan Pathfinder

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne featured a curved 12.6-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An optional 10.9-inch passenger screen allowed for navigation and media control. The system included a head-up display, night-vision assist, and four high-speed USB-C charging ports. A cooled wireless charging area was standard, preventing phone overheating.

The 2026 Nissan Pathfinder came with a 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Factory navigation was no longer offered, but the system was user-friendly and responsive. The Pathfinder introduced Qi2 wireless charging, using a magnet to secure the phone. The Platinum trim included a head-up display and a 13-speaker Bose audio system, while other models had a basic six-speaker system.

Safety

2025 Porsche Cayenne

7/10

2026 Nissan Pathfinder

8/10

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne included standard parking sensors, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. However, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning were optional. The Cayenne had not been rated by NHTSA or IIHS for safety.

The 2026 Nissan Pathfinder featured a comprehensive suite of airbags and standard driver aids, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitors. The Platinum trim added traffic-sign recognition. The Pathfinder earned five stars from NHTSA, with four stars in the frontal crash test, and received "Good" ratings in IIHS tests.
