The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid was a unique offering in the minivan segment, combining practicality with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Despite its minivan label, which some might find unappealing, it provided the convenience of sliding doors and ample space for families. Its design, while not groundbreaking, was functional, and the interior offered quality materials like black Nappa leather. However, its styling appeared somewhat dated compared to more modern, angular designs.

In contrast, the 2023 Jeep Compass embraced a refined aesthetic, moving away from ruggedness to a more upscale look. It shared design elements with larger Jeep models, offering a sophisticated appearance. The Compass featured new wheel designs and a variety of trims, including the off-road-ready Trailhawk. Despite its stylish exterior, the Compass was priced on the higher side for a small SUV, especially when fully equipped.

It offered 770 litres of cargo space, expandable to 1,693 litres with the rear seats folded. The Compass's compact size made it manoeuvrable, but interior space was limited compared to the Pacifica.

The Pacifica Hybrid came with the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 20-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The FamCam system was a useful addition for families. However, voice recognition was inconsistent, and the rear-seat entertainment system was underutilized by tech-savvy passengers.

The Compass also featured Uconnect 5 with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, supporting wireless connectivity and over-the-air updates. The Limited trim included a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, Alexa Built-in, and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system. The parking assist system was helpful, though not essential given the Compass's size.

The Pacifica Hybrid boasted a comprehensive suite of safety features, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. It earned a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA, though its frontal-impact protection was rated four stars.

The Compass added drowsy driver detection and a rear-seat reminder for 2023. It included standard ADAS features like forward-collision warning and lane-keeping assist. However, its adaptive cruise control was not as smooth. The Compass's safety ratings were incomplete, but it previously earned a Top Safety Pick.
