2021 Volkswagen Jetta Reviews Summary

Small cars aren't asked to do much beyond the basics: provide efficient, reliable transportation at a manageable price. Plenty of models fit this form, and in some rare cases, they manage to do it while also being fun to drive, like the Mazda3. In other cases, the vehicle manages to feel more upscale than the competition, like the Honda Civic. But the Volkswagen Jetta's legacy has historically been defined by its ability to offer both an upscale interior and a rewarding driving experience.

But then something happened with the Jetta. Starting with the 2011 model year, Volkswagen attempted to broaden the Jetta's appeal, and until 2018 we were left with a drab interior, an underpowered engine, and an uninspiring driving experience. VW’s hallmark was always that its cars felt a little special, so by adopting a homogenous look and feel, VW removed what made the Jetta unique and desirable to its fans.

So Volkswagen had some work to do with the seventh-generation Jetta, which launched in 2019. Does this car move the Jetta name back toward driving refinement and upscale feel? Or does it continue to disappoint as just another bland entrant among small cars?

2021 Honda Accord Hybrid Reviews Summary

Midsize sedan buyers have never had it better. Across the boad, in one way or another, nearly every model is worthy of your consideration. But the 2021 Honda Accord is a standard-bearer in the segment, the car to beat in most respects. This year, Honda updates the 2021 Accord with a handful of changes intended to keep it at the top of its class and puts more emphasis on the hybrid version of the car, which is the subject of this review.

2021 Honda Accord Hybrid

9/10

The 2021 Volkswagen Jetta presented a more upscale presence compared to its predecessor, with a slightly longer body and wheelbase, and a wider stance by about 2.5 centimetres. Its design was inspired by the VW Arteon sport sedan, featuring a wide, angular grille that added a dramatic flair to its appearance. Inside, the Jetta continued this angular design language, creating a cabin that was both spacious and functional, with a premium feel thanks to a mix of soft-touch surfaces and comfortable seating. The Jetta was available in Comfortline, Highline, and Execline trims, each offering a range of features from heated seats and mirrors to a digital instrument cluster and a premium audio system.

In contrast, the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid was praised for its excellent proportions, stance, and detailing, making it a standout in the Honda lineup. The Accord Hybrid featured minor front styling changes, including a new grille and headlights, and the Touring trim boasted new 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Inside, the Accord Hybrid's cabin was remarkably upscale, with high-quality materials and logically arranged controls. The spacious interior offered a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat and generous rear-seat legroom, while the trunk provided an impressive 473 litres of cargo space.
