2021 Honda Odyssey Reviews Summary

When you’re raising kids, the last thing your life needs is added complication. The modern minivan is designed to eliminate snags, simplify your existence, and reduce friction in the daily grind. Whether you wish to save money on gas, carry maximum cargo, or own a vehicle that is ridiculously easy to load (whether we’re talking passengers or merchandise), a minivan makes good sense. And the freshened 2021 Honda Odyssey is one of our favourites, for now.

2022 INFINITI QX60 Reviews Summary

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 is a premium midsize three-row crossover SUV sold in Canada with standard all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain (in Canada, front-wheel drive (FWD) is not offered). Slotting into the Infiniti SUV lineup between the two-row QX50 and the full-size three-row QX80, the QX60 aims at the “just right” area of the market with a healthy dose of luxury, technology, and driving satisfaction.

2021 Honda Odyssey

2022 INFINITI QX60

7/10

The 2021 Honda Odyssey presented a familiar yet refreshed appearance, with updates that included a new grille and front bumper, standard LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation, and a gloss black spear with a chrome insert stretching across the taillights. The Touring trim level introduced a new 19-inch wheel design, contributing to a more modern look by reducing brightwork. The Odyssey was available in four trim levels, with base pricing ranging from $44,645 to $55,845, and an additional $300 for colours other than grey or silver. The interior featured new perforated leather upholstery with contrast stitching and piping, ambient lighting, and tri-colour floor mats, enhancing its upscale appeal.

In contrast, the 2022 INFINITI QX60 underwent a complete makeover, marking the start of its second generation. The exterior design was dramatic, with a prominent grille, slim LED headlights, and oversized air intakes. The long hood and steeply raked windshield added elegance, while blacked-out pillars created a floating roof effect. The Autograph trim level featured a contrasting black roof, enhancing this effect. The interior was spacious and luxurious, with quilted leather upholstery on the seats and dash, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and a TFT instrument panel. The QX60 was crafted with high build quality, originating from the Nissan plant in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Performance

2022 INFINITI QX60

7/10

The 2021 Honda Odyssey was powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering 280 horsepower to the front wheels. It offered driving modes such as Normal, Sport, Eco, and Snow, along with paddle shifters. The V6 engine featured variable cylinder management for fuel efficiency, with an average consumption of 10.8 L/100 km. However, the lack of all-wheel drive was a disadvantage in snowy conditions. The Odyssey's ride and handling were enjoyable, with well-weighted steering and firm yet comfortable suspension. The Touring trim's 19-inch wheels improved handling, but the brakes showed signs of fade under heavy use.

The 2022 INFINITI QX60 featured a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This setup provided a superior driving experience compared to the previous CVT, with smooth and crisp shifts. The QX60's suspension, with MacPherson struts and an independent multilink setup, offered a smooth ride, while the electric power steering delivered good feel. Fuel consumption was rated at 11.9 L/100 km in the city and 9.5 on the highway. The QX60 excelled on highways and suburban streets, providing a comfortable ride for passengers in all rows.

Form and function

2022 INFINITI QX60

9/10

The 2021 Honda Odyssey offered a well-designed interior with logical controls and ample storage. The driver's seat was comfortable with 12-way power adjustment, while heated front seats and mirrors were standard. The Magic Slide second-row seat layout allowed for versatile seating configurations, and the third-row seats accommodated both children and adults. Cargo space was generous, with 929 litres behind the third row, expanding to 3,984 litres with seats folded. However, removing the second-row seats for maximum cargo volume was cumbersome.

The 2022 INFINITI QX60 provided a luxurious and spacious interior, with storage throughout the cabin and charging ports for all passengers. The second-row seats slid on rails for easy access to the third row, and the Autograph trim featured captain's chairs with a removable centre console. Cargo capacity was 411 litres behind the third row, expanding to 2,135 litres with seats folded. The QX60 also offered a towing capacity of up to 2,721 kilograms with additional equipment.

2022 INFINITI QX60

8/10

The 2021 Honda Odyssey featured an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Higher trims added navigation, a CabinWatch interior camera, and a CabinTalk PA system. The Touring trim included an 11-speaker audio system, wireless charging, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. However, the lack of a tuning knob and subpar voice-recognition technology were drawbacks. The rear-seat entertainment system included a 10.2-inch screen and streaming apps, but the lack of a touchscreen disappointed some users.

The 2022 INFINITI QX60 boasted a 12.3-inch InTouch Interactive infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. It featured six USB ports, a wireless charging pad, and a navigation system. Higher trims included a head-up display and a smart rearview mirror. The QX60's Intelligent Key stored seat positions and audio preferences, while the Bose Performance series sound system provided excellent audio quality.

The Odyssey was expected to earn a Top Safety Pick recommendation from the IIHS and received top ratings from the NHTSA, except for a four-star rollover resistance score.

The 2022 INFINITI QX60 was equipped with a comprehensive set of safety features, including multiple airbags, LATCH connectors, and advanced driver assistance systems. ProPilot Assist was standard on all trims except Pure, and optional features included adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system. While crash-test ratings were not yet available, the previous generation received high marks from the IIHS and NHTSA.
