The 2010 Civic is a great value as these lil motors and transmissions are for the most part- workhorses. Locate one with a good maintenance history and 90-130k on the clock and you should have a nice mix of affordability and reliability. Jul 03, 2023

Honda Civic 2008 is undoubtedly one of the best cars you will buy. Awesome drive experience with ultimate comfort. It also is not hard to maintain the car. I really loved driving this car and would recommend it to others as well.Nov 12, 2021

Had all the features I wanted and everything worked great.
It had low miles (85,000) and was out the door for $7500.00. I consider that great value. Missing nothing for my satisfaction. Came well equipped. It compares to Mazda 3, T. Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, V. Passat and is as roomy as our Chevy Impala and easier to get in and out of. Preferred best.Apr 06, 2021

We love this car! It has both a sporty stylish look, but is also very practical in its gas efficiency. The overall handling is well this car drives is smooth. We feel extremely safe driving it. We would purchase one again at a later time. Feb 12, 2015

This car hasn't had a repair performed in 7 years and 70k of mixed driving. If this car had more road noise isolation it would be perfect. Easy ingress-egress, the driving position is great, controls are simple and well placed. Power is ok but at 38-40 mpg highway driving it strikes the perfect balance. It is as solid, rattle and squeak free as the day it was delivered. Handling is excellent. The interior is designed with high quality materials. The leather seats look new. I paid $23K for this car new and it's worth $10 to 11K today. For a small economical car I find it difficult to believe there's anything better. Jan 10, 2015

loved the reliability....fuel economy and handling . i have put 120.000 miles on the car in 6 1/2 years. I bought it used with 40,000 miles. Other than an alternator and belts , only other service was wear items. best auto i have ever owned.Nov 26, 2014

Love the gas milage, the ease of repair and the super reliability of this model. Wish it had a leather seat option and it would be just about perfect. Seems to handle well even in 6-8 inches of sloppy snow. Decent Stereo and lots of little compartments for storing things. Like the heads up speed/fuel/engine temp gauge.Nov 21, 2014

Excellent car that has served over and above expectation! This car has been a great vehicle for commuting to work, for fun and excitement, and for the money there is not a better care made in my opinion! This is the best model of civic to date and excellent resale value!Oct 27, 2014

The most reliable and fuel efficient car I have owned. The interior is larger than one might expect, and comfortable. Great handling and visibility. Very good sound system. Convenient features like steering wheel controls; easy to see gauge cluster; heated seats; pass-thru back seat.Jul 23, 2014

Has good high end power, lacks low end torque
Had a bad day at work? take the car out and let the engine hum around 5000-7000 rpm and the car comes alive and so do you
Typical Honda build quality.
Fun Factor - Great in the higher rev band could do with some better low end gearingDec 03, 2011

This was my second new Honda I bought-first car note (my first NEW Honda was an Elite scooter during college) and I liked it's futuristic design and it's dashboard. This felt about the same size as my 93 Accord EX 5MT sedan I had back in the day. This car was great around town but was great for road sailing on the highway. This car is easy to drive, inexpensive to own and has that Honda durability that gives you piece of mind. Even though I had a unique color/model/transmission combo and have never seen one exactly like mine, I'm sure there are some out there. I did however see numerous LX models in this color and a few automatic EX sedans in this color here and there.
I averaged 33 mpg mostly over those 70771 miles I racked up on my ride. Xochella was a great car for my first brand new car; the Civic has come a long way since 1987-when I had a Civic RealTime 4wd wagon. The new one looks quite impressive I must say-and I've only seen the coupe version camoflauged-but it looks impressive. Dec 19, 2010

The grip of honda civic is way better than the other cars around. The performance gives a much higher output than an ordinary corolla. Though it costs you more but it worths it. It is more spacious, the interior, the trim works all of them are better than the corolla.Apr 30, 2010

Civic is the best midrange car to have, its has a good power, look and stability. comparing to Corolla or the Lancer CIVIC is much fun to drive. The gas mileage is also good, maintenance is cheaper, parts are easily available and dealer is friendly Apr 09, 2010

A few years back, I got the opportunity to test drive a customer (!) owned 2005 Honda Civic Type-R car from a Honda dealership. Type R's were so wanted that none of the dealers in Belgium had one for demo purposes, not even the importer.
On the test drive day, rain was pouring of course. The dealer drove me around for a few minutes before handing me over the steering wheel. The Civic drives like a fast GTI in the lower rev range with a particularly well balanced chassis and roadholding. You feel instantly at ease in this car.
I never quite understood the essence of the VTEC although I read lots about it. But boy is it good. This car feels like it comes with two engines. Somewhere around 4500rpm where a normal engine prepares for its last breath, this thing is not even awake. When it eventually does, the character is so wild and brutal that I was instantly hooked.
The Type R is built in superlight spec. Aircon is not available because it would make the car heavier. It is only available as a dealer accessory.
The racy interior is well built and has a nice touch. The comfort is very good for this kind of car with the Recaro seats.
Braking is up to level with the cars 200hp and excellent handling. The only drawback in this soaked weather was the grip of the Bridgestone Potenza's when the VTEC kicks in. It sure could do with a sensitive right foot.
There is no doubt that this is one of the most fun cars I have ever driven. I generally dislike front wheel drive cars, but this one made me reconsider my fundamental judgement.Feb 06, 2010

Very roomy, especially the back seats. Big trunk for a small car. Very quick off the line. Exterior looks good, but a matter of preference. Handles like a go-kart, altho' the steering is a bit overassisted. A bit of road and wind noise, but nothing too annoying. Phenominal gas mileage, especially highway, getting 36-40 mpg. Very low cost to maintain. reliable as sunrise. 71K miles on mine without a single rattle or problem, also feels very solid and well built.Jan 23, 2010

It's a very practical, reliable and well-built machine that is a near perfect car for basic transportation. The build quality is great- so it lasts forever-, it gets good fuel economy (I average around 30mpg), and it comes equipped with anything you would need in a car. It also features an excellent handling/ride compromise, which makes it a fun car to drive without sacrificing ride quality. It's a great car overall, perfect for anyone looking for a practical and sensible economy sedan. And it's light-years ahead of a comparable Corolla or Sentra...Jan 08, 2010

the Si is quick, sharp, and fun to drive. The 6 speed is easy to master and offers much fun for accelerating on the on- ramps. The most fun occurs in V-tec mode- it gives it a burst of acceleration.Oct 07, 2009

Awesome car when bought, awesome car to this day. The new model is nowhere near as sharp and involving to drive. A fantastic second-hand buy if you can find a decent one and very reasonable running costs. Very highly recommended!Sep 08, 2009

The Honda Civic is the best car I have ever owned. The quality of the build is excellent because it has never been in the shop for repair. The performance is very good for a small four cylinder because I have owned v6's with less power. The gas mileage is very good because it averages around 38 miles per gallon. Overall it is a very nice car.Sep 03, 2009

It's made in Thailand, 1.8 Ex. This is the best Civic ever. It has fast acceleration, superb handling with excellent build quality. The design is perfect for a small Japanese 4 doors car. The fuel consumption is amazingly low. Maintenance is extremely cheap! Civic FD1 was the best car thai I had!Sep 01, 2009

great acceleration, gotta love the k20z3 with the 6 speed...great combination. Excellent first car. Braking is superior, no repairs needed, no rattles, interior is nicely crafted as long as exterior...car could be a little lower say about another inch lower. Cost is great. Fun as anything to whip around with especially with the sport tires. Grip like no other. Jul 15, 2009

The best vehicle I've ever owned. It drives well, looks awesome, and it's easy on gas. I really like the instrument panel, it looks very sporty and high-tech. I love how I get comments from random people whenever I'm out and about. I'm a Honda owner for life. :)Jun 04, 2009

Got a great deal on an 08, $18,129. My color, sedan, everything I was looking for and a super price to boot. It's quite a step up from the civic EX I was commuting in. What a pleasure to drive...and if I want gas milage in the 30's, I just step it down a bit. Really very happy!Apr 13, 2009

Very comfy to ride in. Lots of room for feet, spacious back seat. Good acceleration, great mileage. Ownership cost is great, the dealership changes the semi-sythetic oil for only 40 bucks. Controls are in easy locations. Clutch is easy to work. Honda is a great name and that's why we got this car.Mar 16, 2009

I had researched several different
vehicles in this before purchasing this
one right off the truck. Alternatives
were the Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa,
Nissan Altima, Pontiac G5, VW Golf,
Toyota Corolla, and the Toyota Matrix.
All of these are fine in their own ways
but none can quite compare to the Civic
outside of the Golf. The Civic has
better handling on sharper corners, an
example of this, there is a certain
corner that I take that the entry speed
is 55 in the other cars, the Golfs was 60
and the Civic was able to do it flat at
72 mph. Acceleration is a bit lacking
though and it feels as though it could do
better but is just not quite tuned right.
The interior is roomy, I am six foot five
and can fit in it comfortably... the one
complain I have is that the handbrake
pokes into my leg if I lean it there.
Fuel economy is excellent though. I have
been able to get well over 40 mpg
traveling on the highway at 72 mph. In
town it is cut back a bit to around 30
mpg due to stopping and going and
passing. The car is fairly light on its
feet but provides good traction in rainy
weather. I will say that it does not do
well in snow and ice; where I was only
able to do 25 mph, other cars were
passing me by at 45. Some people don't
like the digital speedometer/fuel gauge
but I have come to prefer it, it is
strategically placed in my line of sight
and I can easily concentrate on my speed
as well as the road ahead.
I dislike the fact the the front pillars
come forward so far as to obstruct my
view when taking a corner and the road
noise can be a bit pronounced. I do like
the looks of the car although they are a
bit French and reflect a lot you would
see in a Citroen. I have put nearly
thirty thousand miles on it in the past
year and it has not been in the shop one
time. The top speed is supposedly
limited to 125 mph but I have seen my
speedometer at 138 which is not bad at
all for a four cylinder car.Oct 11, 2008

The Civic is a very pleasing and practical economy
car, but no more.
Straight-line performance is adequate. The 1.8-
liter engine needs to be kept above 3000 rpm for
best results, although with a 6800 rpm redline it's
pretty flexible. At town speeds below 50 mph, there
is rarely a power deficit, but you will wish for more
power on the interstate, especially above 80 mph.
The 5-speed gearbox is good, with a relatively
positive feel and low effort but long shifter throws.
It does not match up to the 6-speed available in
the Si. The clutch has a very short travel, which
results in some rough starts until you get used to
it, but is low-effort enough that stop-and-go is
easy.
Handling is the car's strongest attribute. The
steering is extremely light, but precise and
communicative. The suspension offers excellent
body control through bumps and a taut, but not
harsh, ride. Like any front-drive car, consistent
understeer is the only thing happening at the limit,
but if you drive at the limit you should not have a
Civic. The stock Michelins are biased toward a soft
ride and should be replaced with something better,
although I have not.
The excellent handling and lightweight feel make
the car very satisfying in city traffic. I notice this
most when I drive rental cars; after my Civic, they
always feel heavy, ponderous, and reluctant to
change direction or stop.
As usual with economy cars, there is a fair degree
of both engine and tire noise on tap, although wind
noise is unusually absent even above 80 mph.
Braking is adequate with the 4-wheel discs on the
EX. (I would not want to buy an LX with its rear
drum brakes.) The pedal will fade with repeated
hard stops, and the ABS kicks in a bit too quickly.
The interior is quite roomy for this class. Seats are
firm and fairly comfortable, although not up to the
standard of the Accord/TSX/TL. The interior
materials are good for the class, but cannot match
up to those used on larger and more expensive
cars. As is typical of Honda and Acura, interior
parts have a lightweight feel that may bother those
used to Mercedes-Benz solidity (for example),
although the actual build quality is good and the
parts are very durable. My car has an unfortunate
rattle from somewhere in the moonroof area which
I have been unable to isolate but feels otherwise
very solid.
Thoughtful Honda touches include plenty of
closeable storage, two power ports, and a well-
placed auxiliary input (right next to one power port;
EX only) for the stereo. Strangely, there is no
sunglass holder. The moonroof (EX only) only
slides; it does not tilt for ventilation. The driver's
seat is height-adjustable and features adjustable
lumbar support.
The two-level dashboard is the car's most
controversial feature, but I like it. I love the digital
speedo above the wheel, although a redundant
analog speedo would also be helpful. The large
central tach is nice as well. Secondary controls are
typical of Honda in that they are relatively intuitive
but feature many buttons and look a bit cluttered.
The gas mileage is quite good. Tanks have ranged
from a low of 19 mpg (1- or 2- mile city trips for
the entire tank) to a high of 42 mpg (driving at 50-
55 mph on the highway). Typical mileage in my
almost all city driving is about 27-28. The car has
required no unscheduled maintenance and only two
oil changes as scheduled maintenance.
I would definitely recommend the Civic to someone
looking for a driver-centered economy car,
provided they understand it is not a luxury or
sports car and will not feel or perform like one.Sep 01, 2008

Performance - Great for an 140 hp braking and handling are very good
Build quality - It's a Honda what do you think
Appearance - great appearance just nee to add skirt and a wing
Fun - inside is really friendly and love display of the RPM and the speedometer.
Finally it's a great basic car.Aug 29, 2008

Love the car the engine revs like crazy and loves it, the handling is amazing as it is so light fantastic car for the money with Honda reliability, the fuel economy is not that great around 20 MPG around town and up to 35 maybe 40 MPG at a push on the motorway, lets face it you don't buy this car for its fuel economy! Fantastic confidence inspiring drive corners like its on rails, the VTEC does kick in a little too late i think it would be nice if it kicked in at around 5 to 5 and a half thousand RPM, other than that a brilliant car. Fantastically fun to drive. Servicing costs are very low and this is a Honda so is ultra reliable. It looks fantastic an all round brilliant package.Jun 25, 2008

Civic Si Returns in 2007, with the addition of a 4 door sedan alongside the 2 door model. 4 door Si, have a better weight distrubtion and ride better than the 2 door supringsly.
The vehicle is very rev happy, eager to rev, and shifter and shift pattern is similar to the 6 speed found in the S2000. Vehicle only comes in manual transmission form like traditional Si vehicles of the past. Honda stays true to the Si philosophy with the 7th generation civic and 4th iteration of the Civic Si model. This car doesn't generate much emotion. It gets very good gas mileage. Sometimes on trips it will tick past 40mpg. Around town it's usually 30+. However, this car has very little get up and go. It is sometimes frustrating trying to merge onto limited access freeways or while passing.Oct 31, 2007
