The 2008 Subaru Legacy is a standout mid-size sedan, combining elegance, performance, and all-weather capability with its standard all-wheel-drive system. Its sleek design, comfortable and high-quality interior, and precise handling make for an enjoyable driving experience. Safety features are top-notch, and the range of engines, including a turbocharged option, provides excellent performance. With its reliability and solid build, the 2008 Legacy is an excellent choice for those seeking a practical yet spirited ride.Jun 12, 2024

This was my first Subaru....all I can say, I will only own a Subaru from here on out!!!! This car has caused me no issue, other than the normal, expected maintenance costs. When everyone was yelling about gas prices, I was not affected. This car not only looks good, it has been super reliable!!!Feb 09, 2015

This car is fun to drive, handles magnificent and still gets pretty good gas mileage. It is tuned for 91 octane pump gas. Even with 400whp, the car still gets decent gas mileage (19 city/ 24 hwy). I think that has surprised me the most. The 6 speed Sti transmission is a much better fit than the 5 speed that came with the car. The 5 speed clutch and tranny couldn't handle the engine power, so that's why the big decision was made to swap to the better transmission. Sep 01, 2014

This car has been great, period. It grips to the snow during the winter, cuts through the spring rain, and glides through the summer's dry pavement. The sleek, slender look of the Subaru Legacy 2.5i SE attracts the most fittest, outdoor enthusiasts in America. To boot, the sound system rocks a Harmon/Kardon 9-speaker system! Great car, great value--for life!Feb 27, 2013

I love the AWD platform and wish all of my cars had this. Being AWD does come with slightly reduced fuel mileage (I average 25.5mpg), but compared to other cars in it's class, the difference is minimal and extra costs are worth it in snowy areas. The seats are rather firm and the material seems to stain rather easily. Seat pads and covers provide a cheap and easy fix for this. Maintenance is not terrible since it will run off of standard oil, but other repairs can be costly, and Subaru dealers are not quite as common as many other makes. There is ample room in the trunk, and the passenger compartment has plenty of room for most average-sized people. The headlights are very bright and the high-beams are quite remarkable. The Harman Kardon audio system is also a perfect touch, well balanced, sufficiently powerful, and easy to operate. Feb 29, 2012

Performance is great - the car handles like a cat, and makes it extremely fun to
drive. It might be a little down on power, but if that was going to be an issue, you
probably should go for one of the 3.0 liter ones anyway. Build is good - no issues -
but I guess I haven't put that many miles on it myself. I bought this car because it
was THE ONLY decent looking car at this price with any sense of performance. No
maintenance issues yet, gas mileage is low (I've averaged near 29, the factory
listing is for 24ish) but that's a side effect of the AWD. Nov 22, 2010

Great car, lovely interior, and decent acceleration for a 4 cyl.
Its sort of sluggish off the line if you really don't punch it, and the car
sounds great when you're 4000 and higher in the RPM range. Revving to
8000 easily, but I really don't recommend it because it drinks some fuel
when that happens due to it not being a performance engine.

Performance - Great acceleration, sharp handling and 4WD grip.
Build Quality - Little to no maintenance
Appearance - Sleek styling, understated, one of Subaru's best looking cars
Cost of Ownership - Insurance and a little high, and gas mileage a little low, but great on a 300 HP turbocharged sedan!
Fun Factor - Stick shift makes it a hoot to drive, once turbo gets boost going, it really starts moving good!Mar 07, 2010

Great car! Amazing build quality, technology, and cost for car. A little expensive, but worth it. Awesome safety features and boxer engine mounted low for a good COG. I only wish I had the turbo model...And as always, sweet AWD.Jan 13, 2010

Subaru Legacy 3.0R Spec.B 6MT Wagon
Performance: 0-60 in 6.9 seconds
Build quality: It´s a Subaru, not flashy but built to last.
Appearance: Best Legacy so far.
Cost of ownership: Fuel consumption is a bit on the high side.
Fun factor: Killing "hot hatches" at stoplights and on winding
roads in a wagon is priceless :) Nov 15, 2009

Alright, so it's not a Limited it's just a 2.5 GT. It must be a Canadian spec vehicle because GT Limited is the only option I could choose for 2006. What this means is that the car doesn't have leather or a sunroof. Nevertheless, what it does have is a detuned version of the WRX STi engine.
It's a 2.5L DOHC Horizontally-Opposed turbocharged 4 cylinder rated at 250 HP and 250 LB-FT of torque. Power is put to the ground through a 5-speed manual and Subaru's full-time symmetrical all-wheel drive system. Simply put, this car goes like STINK.
Styling is pretty subdued in the GT model though. Other than the hood scoop and 17" alloys shod with ZR rated rubber, it just looks like a regular Legacy. It's a simple, clean-cut sedan that doesn't have the "Hey look at me!" styling of the WRX.
As for build quality, it's a Subaru. Panels fit evenly, doors close with a solid thud, tolerances are minimal and unforeseen mechanical problems are a rarity. Not to mention, safety ratings are top of it's class and the AWD system is quite simply one of the best on the market.Nov 05, 2009

What can I say... I love the car. This is my 2nd one. I got in a real bad accident with my first. It saved my life. As far as performance goes it is great. I just keep adding more. It's so fun to drive. I would work a little more on the handling. It doesn't like to corner to well. The upgraded sway bars do help it though. In my opinion the only thing I don't like about the interier is the wood trim. It's a little to luxury to me but I deal. Overall it is a great car, it's got great safety features, and it is VERY FUN to drive. May 12, 2009

I thought that going from a really fast car to one with 170 hp would be tough. It wasn't though due to the overall balance and driving dynamics of the Subaru. I love having the security of Subaru's symetrical all wheel drive and the five speed makes it fun to drive. MPG has been great so far, I'm averaging 30mpg with mixed driving. The quality of the interior is top notch and the lines of the car are seductive. My first Subaru but certainly not my last!Sep 09, 2008

This is my second Subaru, and probably not my last. This car has been 99.9% trouble-free, all I have done is regular maintenance for two years and it's been perfectly reliable the entire time.Jan 29, 2008

The 2.0 H4 Engine is a powerful engine (sometimes I wish I went for the H6 engine).
The best thing in this car is it's handling, even on high speeds. I can easily say
it's the best among competition.
On high speed, the car just graps the road, I've tested it on its top speed of 220Km/H and it
was stable better than lots of cars at half that speed.Jan 07, 2008
