Extremely reliable truck with supremely smooth engine and transmission. Great size and look compared to larger full-size trucks. Plenty of power and hauling/towing capacity for any light duty truck task. Overall wonderful truck thats fun to drive, you can trust to get any on- or off-road job done, and will be low maintenance for well over 300k miles. Jul 17, 2021

The 4.7L v-8 is probably the most reliable motor produced to date. The 4x4 provides the peace of mind to get you where you need to go. Feb 20, 2021

This was the last model year before the Tundra grew in size. The 2007 and up are too big for my liking. The 4.7 V8 is a terrific motor. However it is an INTERFERENCE motor and the timing belt needs to be changed every 70,000 miles or so. If there are no service records or proof of the last timing belt/water pump replacement, then youll have to factor in the cost of installing a new timing belt and water pump into the selling price. Also Toyota wasnt as liberal with changing out the frames with the Tundras as they were with the Tacomas. In searching for a 2000 to 2006 Tundra (or any truck for that matter), consider the frame and timing belt/water pump to be your #1 concern.Jun 14, 2020

This model variation--2003-2006, is one of the most dependable and efficient trucks Toyota has ever made. The reliable V8 engine combined with a solid chassis with excellent options makes it a great choice.May 20, 2020

This is a great truck with great reliability. It has a V8 that offers great power and towing ability while still being a comfortable everyday driver. The gas mileage is about 16 MPG which is not too bad.
The truck sits up pretty high but still handles really well and the brakes are good too.
The looks have withstood the test of time with it still being a great looking truck compared to even the new models out today.
Highly recommended!Sep 02, 2014

It is so reliable, easy to maintain, good looking, practical and fun, push of a button 4WD has been a life saver on more than one occasion (or at least so I don't have to get out of the truck) in the snow, slush, mud, cold, ice, etc. Would definitely recommend one to anyone. Even my brother likes it and he is a full size Chevy kinda guy. Jun 19, 2013

What I like about this truck is that it does everything the average person needs. It will pull just about anything, I periodically drive up to West Virginia and pulls cars back to Georgia with it no problems. Even though its a two wheel drive I still do off road with it very well.
What I don't like about it is the back seat is just a tad small for people to sit.
Other then that its the best truck I've ever had.Mar 20, 2011

Love the truck, good power considering its size, plenty of room, good on fuel. It is a good all around truck. I bought it for about $18,000 at around 63,000 miles on it. It is a very fun truck. Great Choice.Sep 15, 2010

Great truck. Absolutely loved it. Roomy && had a lot of get up && go in it. 4 wheel drive worked great. Like that it was push button but sometimes it was hard to get out of 4wheel. Smooth ride through.Jun 24, 2008

I am the second owner of this 75,000 mile `02 Tundra. In my five + years of ownership, the only mechanical problem it has had was a bad O2 sensor that got seized in the exhaust manifold. (A dealer replaced both parts under warranty.)
This truck has brute power and speed. With a reported 7.8 second 0-60 time, I have gotten it to jump the rear tires going into 2nd gear (automatic). The 32 valve Lexus inspired V-8 is extremely responsive and roars like a Cup car under hard excelleration. The gear changes are barely noticable unless your foot is in the floor.
The power is complimented nicely by a very smooth ride. It doesn't quite feel like a truck at times. Interior fit and finish is comfortable and sound. The exterior finish is tough as nails, putting up with year after year of Southwestern sun abuse. There has been no paint fade that I can tell.
I would definately recommend this truck to friends and family, but they'll have to get your own; this one is mine!May 28, 2008

For the first year this truck was made, there were a lot of questions on how it would perform. As to date, I have had no major issues with this truck, and I use it as a daily driver. It looks good, and drives well. I am more than satisfied with my truck, for going on 8 years.May 05, 2008

I wish mine was a 4WD but otherwise it's very nice. I've got leather interior with a JBL Synthesis Factory upgrade (JBL Factory speakers w/ a factory amp) but I'm going to rip that out and install all JBL Power series sometime soon. Roomy interior, unless you're in the back seats... but still manageable, unlike ford or dodge. Black with chrome highlights, chrome nerf bars, Rhino-lining, Altezza Taillights, V8, and it's a Toyota. As long as you keep up the regular maintenance it'll last over 400,000 miles (I have a friend who has one like that)Feb 19, 2008

I love my Tundra. I bought it 2 years ago and have had a lot of fun with it ever since. I especially like how well it handles "off the beaten path". It's comfortable and roomy (enough for me) and seats 5 just fine. I wouldn't trade it in for anything - except a new Tundra (of course).Aug 16, 2007

Our Tundra has 90,000 miles on it and it still drives and rides like it did on the first day. Zero problems with the truck, it is a workforce and has never failed us.Oct 11, 2006
